Elongated, narrow, uninvited and undesired zebra-esque stripes and streaks on the skin are quite common and an otherwise painless phenomenon.
Commonly found on the thigh and the abdominal regions, and more commonly found in women than in men, stretch marks are ungainly lines that stand out visibly and can cause people to lose confidence in their skin.
How You Get Them
Stretch marks are obtained when the skin, after prolonged periods of stretching and growing, falls back into place.
Found on the abdominal region, breasts, thighs, lower back and hips and even on the upper arms, stretch marks can be seen on the bodies of 50% of women who experience pregnancy.
Other causes of stretch marks are weight loss or gain and puberty. The marks appear due to the inability of the skin to fall back into its original position after being stretched.
