Injectables are one of the most popular cosmetics treatments in North America. The region is also the largest supplier of injectables, with over 78% of it being produced there.
Injectables are a quick procedure when done for cosmetic purposes. It’s known to enhance facial features and also treat muscular conditions. The treatment is essentially a form of temporary muscle paralysis. It paralyzes muscles to prevent the onset of wrinkles, fine lines, drooping eyebrows, an uneven chin, or a wrinkled neck.
Injectables aren’t like your every 4-week facial, it requires upkeep. Here are some dos and don’ts once you’ve gotten injectables done:
The Dos
Stay upright after the procedure
The practitioner performing the procedure on you will tell you to stay upright for at least 4 hours after the procedure. This is done to avoid an increase in blood circulation to the area, which can cause the injectable to disperse.
Keep moving the injected areas
In the first hour after receiving the injectable treatment, keep making pronounced facial expressions. This helps the injectable settle into the cells where it needs to work. For example, if your targeted area is the crow’s feet by the side of your eyes, or laugh lines, move the muscles in that area.
After the first hour, keep extreme facial expressions to the minimum for at least the next 12 hours.
Apply makeup gently in dabbing motions
If you’re someone who’s quite rough with your makeup application, you need to avoid makeup or apply it in dabbing motions. Rubbing or spreading your makeup in a way that disturbs the skin can affect the way injectables spread in the cells.
Makeup must only be worn after the treatment has been sitting in your skin for over 6 hours. Make sure you don’t apply a fake tan during that duration either.
The Don’ts
Avoid applying pressure to the face
Once you’ve had injectables treatment make sure you’re gentle when touching your face. When doing your skin regimen every day, use light pressure and gentle strokes. When massaging around the eye area, always use outward and upward strokes.
Don’t have facials till 2 weeks after the treatment
Facials, massages, derma-rolling, and other such treatments should be completely avoided for 2 weeks post treatment. Massages and puncturing the skin after treatment can negatively impact its effectiveness.
